Barber Design are finalists in four categories at the Retail Week Interiors Awards 2015

Big news! This week we are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as finalists for four awards at the ISG Retail Week Interiors Awards 2015, which will be held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London on the 4th of November.

Following on from last years success when our design for sweet shop ‘Sweet as a Button’ was shortlisted in the prestigious ‘Food and Supermarket Design of the Year’ category; this year we have a total of four nominations for three different retail designs:

The Triathlon Shop – Best Large Format

First up is our nomination in the ‘Bridgford Best Large Format Store of the Year’ category, for our work with the Triathlon Shop in Bristol. As regular readers of the blog will know, this was a large project for a really fabulous independent store in Bristol which has built a reputation on it’s excellent customer service and attention to detail, along with a passion for their subject.

Barber Design were able to help the Triathlon Store with an ambitious move from humble beginnings near Temple Meads Station to a large, specialist store with a range of personal and tailored services for runners, cyclists and swimmers. The new store features a bio-mechanical and gait analysis system for runners, a sports massage and injury rehab clinic and an ‘endless pool’ for wetsuit testing and technique coaching. These bespoke facilities which have helped the Triathlon Shop to realise their company vision of becoming one of the best stores of their kind in the UK.

Simply Be and Jacamo – Fashion Retail Interior of the year and Best Use of Design with Technology In-Store

From an independent store in Bristol to a prestigious store in London: Our work with Simply Be and Jacamo for their Flagship store on London’s Oxford Street has been nominated for not one, but two awards this year: ‘Fashion Retail Interior of the Year’ and ‘Best Use of Design with Technology in-store’.

The spacious three-storey store stocks women’s clothes in sizes 10 to 32 and menswear in small to 5XL and was opened by cricketer and brand ambassador Freddie Flintoff, last autumn.

The retail technology in store includes a click-and-collect service and a ‘stay and play’ area, which allows customers to browse the Simply Be and Jacamo collections using hand-held tablets. There is also a personal shopping service and existing Simply Be and Jacamo online or catalogue customers can use their customer account details to make purchases in store.

LA Muscle Boutique – Best Small Store – Non-Food

And finally, one of our most recently completed projects has been nominated in the category ‘Best Small Store – Non Food – NEW’. This nomination is for the LA Muscle Boutique, which opened in April in Richmond.

This new new boutique heralds an exciting move from online retail to a physical store for the brand. LA Muscle chose Barber to help them to break from convention with their design – in a retail sector where stores are traditionally designed to be cluttered and lacking a point of difference. The store features a sleek, streamlined design – intended as a showcase to develop brand awareness, in order to increase both online and offline sales and build customer relationships.

The Awards Ceremony

This year’s ceremony will be the 18th annual ISG Retail Week Interiors Awards – which continue to sett the benchmark for success within the store design and fit-out sector, for others to follow.

There are fifteen awards categories in total and this years judging panel received entries from over 70 top retail designers, so we feel extremely honoured to have been nominated as finalists in so many categories. Watch this space to see if we win!
