Project Details

Barber was approached by Miranda Button and her sister to develop a ‘sweet shop like no other’ in Hertfordshire to appeal to young and old alike. With their name in the brand, the ‘Sweet as a Button’ identity was created and this informed the retro style feel to the environment. We created a retail offer that harked back to traditional values and our ‘distant memories’ of the old fashioned sweet shop, yet developed this in a way to appeal to a new generation of sweet lovers. Contemporary finishes and materials were used on a tight budget to create impact on a busy high street.
Our scope included brand development, customer communication, planning, retail design and detailing. The retro feel of the store created immediate impact on the high street and customers were queuing around the block on launch day. The brand has continued to thrive and do well in a world where ‘not everything has to be brought online’. Customers have turned into fans and the button sisters have created a memorable brand experience.

Barber are pleased to announce that the project was shortlisted at the Retail Week Awards 2014, against stiff and corporate competition.
