Barber were approached by the Umami, a duo with a background in food marketing to create a warm, friendly, inviting brand that reflects the client’s character and passion for food.

Our concept design needed to incorporate this into their first authentic delicatessen in Wantage near Oxford. We produced a full brand identity and communication package in conjunction with developing the retail environment to ensure a truly integrated brand offer. A corner site was chosen in an area close to Wantage town centre and Barber was commissioned to create the concept store design, development and implementation of the shop fit for the launch. The successfully delivered brand went from concept to completion with the intention of rolling the concept out to further locations in the not too distant future. More than the average delicatessen, Umami customers can also sit at communal tables and chat over a great cup of coffee and a light lunch and cake.
