Brand to Watch
Our MD Doug Barber visited the latest Moda spring summer 2013 exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC to not only look at the latest fashion trends across fashion and footwear, but to discover new retailers and meet a few existing clients who were exhibiting.
Notably, many of the exhibition stands were innovative and stood out from the crowd, many of them created in a very cost effective way. It goes to show that in today’s ‘measures of austerity’ that one doesn’t have to be flashy to create some noise and in reality its the simple stands and brands that made a difference.
The same effect can easily be applied to retail store design. Exhibitions have a lot of synergy with ‘Pop up Shops’ and the temporary nature of their existence can be translated through into retail environments. Even longer term retail stores can introduce some element of ‘Pop Up’ within their space to create theatre and ‘freshness’ to the customer experience.
One brand that also was attracting a lot of attention was a newcomer to the market called Brakeburn. These guys have positioned themselves with a cool stand that had a huge rear wall panel and giant graphic to create some stand out. They are focusing their product towards the street culture, cycling and board sports area. Could they be the new howies? We will see but they are so fresh they don’t have a website yet.
We would love to work with these guys so fingers crossed. Watch this space!
