Sweet as a Button – In Store Design
You may remember our recent blog piece about our in store design for a new sweet shop named ‘Sweet as a Button’ which opened in Kings Langley in Hertfordshire last July. Now – as promised in our last post – we are reporting back with more photos of the store interior and branding design and we’re checking in to see how the new store is doing.
In the years following the demise of Woolworth’s pick n mix there seems to be a big demand for these little sweet shops, and ‘Sweet as Button’ have hit the market running – selling a range of delicious treats, childhood favourites and made-to-order-milkshakes whipped up with your choice of chocolate confection blended into the mix.
As you can see from the pictures we went for quite a retro feel with the bold colours and block design on the counter, alongside some more traditional green and white candy stripes on the walls.
Outside the store is decorated with bunting and visitors are greeted with a brightly coloured window display hinting at the jars of delicious confectionery inside.
The store’s owners, sisters Hayley and Miranda Button are really relishing their new venture as they got in touch with us recently to say:
“We are doing very well with the shop thank you, couldn’t be happier, we’re both still on a major high from it all. Very exciting still, every day we open the shop we smile!”
We have to say, that here at Barber we really enjoyed designing for this store too – and we’re starting to get a name for ourselves in the niche (and very fun) field of sweet shop design – check out our work for SugarSin London to see some more of our sweet store retail interior work.
It is heart warming to know that the British passion for pick n mix is surviving these tough economic times and we can only hope to see the girls go from strength to strength with their new business. Life is sweet!
