SugarSin – Russell Street
Delightful and delicious design
This is our second store for the enchanting sweet shop SugarSin who relocated to a leading spot in Covent Garden on the corner of 1 Russell Street.
In Sweden where our client originates, sweets are still common treats for adults as well as children. Following the demise of the Woolworths pick n mix concession, the Swedish sisters Anna and Josefin were keen to bring their own cultural take on the concept to the UK, envisioning a niche in the market for an original, more sophisticated brand of confectionery retail. They called on Barber for assistance and we worked very closely with SugarSin to reboot the brand in their new, highly sought after location. We felt it was necessary to create a contemporary store concept that was enticing, colourful and would appeal to all ages.
The fixtures and fittings in the store feature an exaggerated design with strong bold colours to create a larger than life look, which feels both fun and contemporary. Our design features include black and white candy striped flooring, hanging glass bubbles, harlequin wall tile patterns and liquorice rope-effect pillars. We played with different materials including diamond-patterned tiles, high gloss tables and shelf upon shelf of delicious sweet treats displayed in glass jars.
“We are so happy with the final look of the shop” – Co-Owner, SugarSin
