Store designed by Barber in conjunction with the Nuance Group nominated for award at Cannes
On Tuesday some of the members of our team were lucky enough to attend the annual Sunglasses Awards as part of the 30th Annual TFWA Duty Free and Travel Retail Global Summit in Cannes, where a store designed by Barber in conjunction with the Nuance Group was nominated in the category “Best Off-Airport Sunglasses Retailer.” We were very excited to see our work receiving such global recognition.
The entries were judged by a panel of executives from some of the world’s leading sunglasses sellers, including Francois Gros from Luxottica and Giles Marks from Maui Jim.
Chief judge, Gros acknowledged the special achievement made by all of the entrants that had been shortlisted for one of the prestigious awards, which was part of the sixth Annual Sunglasses Workshop and Awards:
“All the shortlisted companies can be immensely proud of making the cut following an extremely competitive judging process. The shortlist really does represent the very best of sunglasses retailing, with a huge amount of innovation, flair and passion on display. The judging panel would like to thank all the companies that took the time to enter and we look forward to welcoming our partners to next week’s Sunglasses Workshop and Awards.”
The event was sponsored by Luxottica, Marcolin, De Rigo, Marchon, Maui Jim and Safilo, and is one of the focal points for sunglasses in the travel retail calendar – hence the theme for this years awards: “Sunglasses in Travel Retail: The Trinity At Work”.
Although Nuance were finalists they did not win in this category, for the store we co-created for Centerparcs at Woburn Abbey – but they did win two others – taking the award for ‘Best Standalone Sunglasses Concept’ and the ‘Innovation Award.’
We’ve included a couple of snaps from our man in the field showing the team collecting their awards on the night!
